An Hour or Two Sacred to Sorrow Essay

In the article, â€Å"An Hour or Two Sacred to Sorrow,† the author, Richard Steele, discloses to the peruser that numerous sudden and tragic occasions may happen in the course of our life; in any case, those events ought to be thought back upon as opposed to overlooked. He composes from his own encounters of misfortune, however keeps on including the way that it is satisfactory in any event, fulfilling to recall such occasions. The author starts by remembering the day his dad kicked the bucket. At a negligible age of five he realized something wasn't right on the grounds that nobody would play with him, yet no memory regarding what was genuinely awry in the circumstance. At the point when he says, â€Å"I†¦fell a-beating at the final resting place and calling Papa†¦Ã¢â‚¬ that announcement alongside, â€Å"†¦ I know not how. I had some slight thought that he was secured up there,† clarifies further that he realized something was unsound about the circum stance just not actually what it was. He at that point discusses how his mom covers him out of her own despondency, which struck his intuition of distress for his mom. He at that point proceeds onward to communicate the way that when we’re more seasoned we acquire memory better than at a more youthful age; likewise, he clarifies that various recollections cause various responses in an individual. For example, when an individual passes away all you wind up recollecting is their demise not the merry recollections they left with you. He at that point explains this point by saying, â€Å"†¦ courageous men.. cut off by the blade move preferably our reverence over our pity†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Saying this he brings up that when a man from the military kicks the bucket we are more aware than grieved or resentful about the occurrence. Numerous individuals would incline toward not to recollect the forlorn occasions of their lives, but instead the upbeat encounters. In continuation he says that the main magnificence he at any point observed was in a virgin. He depicts her as unconsciously enchanting and heedlessly exceeding expectations, which lead him to comprehend why demise ought to reserve an option to her, however it despite everything confuses him why passing likewise appears to be attracted to the modest and easygoing. He watches passing become an object of little worth when he states, â€Å"†¦ demise become the pretty trifler.† He portrays the virgins unexpected demise and the anguish he felt in the wake of hearing this news. He at that point welcomes companions who had known her, and they started drinking two jugs of wine each; nonetheless, he finds that regardless of the amount he drinks it can not eradicate what had happened the prior night. Which gave them even more motivation to recall the effect she had left on their lives. All in all the essayist remembers past dismalâ experiences that hung out in his memory. From numerous points of view life can be loaded with distress, however we should figure out how to proceed onward from these occasions in our lives. on to better occasions. He clarifies that numerous sudden and tragic occasions may happen in the course of our life; in any case, those events ought to be thought back upon instead of overlooked.

Circumstances and logical results Analysis 1 A Cause and Effect Metacognative Analysis Bryan J. Basic Reading and Thinking, Section 409 March 11, 2010 Cause and Effect Analysis 2 Casual Metacognitive Analysis Introduction I am concentrating on the circumstances and logical results kind in this paper to illuminate the peruser about steroids and how they have become a typical marvel among competitors. What a few people may not know are the antagonistic impacts steroids have on a person’s scholarly/profound, social-feeling, and physical appearance. For occasion, an individual on steroids may have an affected social-enthusiastic relationship with others because of the expansion in testosterone, making numerous clients lash out with viciousness and wrath, a term that has been authored â€Å"roid rage. † My motivation recorded as a hard copy this exposition is to reveal insight into the negative impacts of steroids. By utilizing circumstances and logical results you will have the option to decide the reason, which is steroids, and the a wide range of impacts they have. This is a significant instrument to truly show exactly how a substance like anabolic steroids can influence someone. It is likewise significant for my field of study, practice science, to show individuals the negative reactions. Circumstances and logical results examination has shown me how to improve as a peruser, and author, by telling me precisely the best way to dissect what I’m perusing, and have it sink it, instead of go in one ear and out the other. The utilization of circumstances and logical results in this paper will give the peruser a more inside and out point of view of the impacts steroids have on the human body. Review Awaareness For this exposition I picked two articles to look at and contrast. The first article I picked was â€Å"Performance upgrade isn't the main impact of androgenic-anabolic steroids in competitors. † The main article by ADIS International Lim ited worked admirably giving us a top to bottom look on the intricate details of steroid use. The second article I picked was titled â€Å"High-Dose Anabolic Cause and Effect Analysis 3 Steroids in Strength Athletes: Effects upon Hostility and Aggression†, composed by P. Y. L. Choi, A. C. Parrott, and D. Cowan. This article is a record of tests that P. Y. L. Choi et al. onstructed while testing the impacts that steroid use has on quality competitors. It utilized a benchmark group, that contained non clients, and a gathering of three subjects on steroids. The two articles talked about the negative symptoms that steroids have, and depicted their employments. The subsequent article, be that as it may, had more detail and given genuine instances of how far steroids could influence somebody, contrarily. FOR INSTANCE†¦While assessing the two articles I saw that the proof gave was pertinent to the case every wa attempting to make, that steroids for the most part give more negat ive impacts than great ones. The second article gave diagrams to show the various degrees of animosity and antagonistic vibe in the subjects being tried, and the main article didn't. The two articles had logical inconsistencies that could influence a peruser away from accepting that steroids were a negative option in contrast to enhancing. In the second article P. Y. L Choi et al. talk about how their investigation could be feeble, â€Å"It was ‘open’ instead of ‘blind’. Medication conditions shifted broadly between subjects. † Over all, each article gave significant proof driving a peruser to accept steroid utilize gives more negative impacts than positive.I accept the writers in article one and two had the reason for indicating how steroids work, and to show how utilizing them could prompt genuine wellbeing dangers and passionate hazards, which could harm connections you have with others. Nature of Casual Argument There was one reason for this subje ct: steroids. Be that as it may, it had numerous impacts, for example, execution upgrade, and the terrible reactions including expanded animosity, antagonistic vibe, diminished sex drive, weight gain, barrenness, cardiovascular dangers, and meddled with individual Cause and Effect Analysis 4 elationships. The writer for this article utilized a graph that gave a depiction of how steroids influenced both male and females. In guys it had skin inflammation, expanded facial and body hair, expanded forceful conduct, expanded hunger, and going bald. In females it diminished bosom size, menstrual abnormalities, extending of the voice, and expanding the clitoris. While expressing the negative symptoms this article additionally included authentic purposes for utilizing steroids. Steroids can treat development impediment, bosom carcinoma, osteoporosis, edema, and anemia. What this article is attempting to state, nonetheless, is that when utilized inappropriately, for example, utilizing more tha n the suggested portion, for the most part for improvement purposes, the impacts can be negative. Educational Article Summary The article originates from a course book entitled â€Å"Drugs and Therapy Perspective,† the title of the article is â€Å"Performance improvement isn't the main impact of androgenic-anabolic steroids in competitors. † The article discusses impacts other than just execution upgrade when utilizing steroids. The author’s sentiment gives off an impression of being that steroids are not the best approach for upgrading execution athletically. This article first discussions about how steroids work. Anabolic steroids are comprehended and nearly ensured in all cases to make an extended voice, expanding the user’s power, and making more hair on your body. There are two distinct ways steroids can be utilized: through fundamental specialist endorsed implies, or by close to home use, ordinarily including higher dosages of the medication. While steroids can be advantageous in treating certain conditions managing its restorative use, it can likewise be utilized in disliked manners, for example, expanded portions for individual use, in order to see results whether it is in rivalry or for muscle mass. Some of the primary, and most basic reactions steroids have, are an expansion in the user’s weight, power gains, Cause and Effect Analysis 5 and issues with their physical and enthusiastic prosperity. This accommodates an elegantly composed article, and one that anybody could peruse and leave bei ng all around educated regarding the antagonistic reactions of steroids, and not have quite a bit of a contention for them. Before perusing this article I didn't know about over portion of the impacts steroids have on the human body and thought taking them in the offseason for baseball wouldn’t be such an awful idea. After perusing this article and making a circumstances and logical results paper on it, I was extremely ready to plainly observe that the reactions exceed any feasible objective in which one may meet. For whatever length of time that sufficient food sources are accessible deer populaces will twofold every a few years. Which is essentially because of the over populace of the natural life around there as a result of the deforested region that was utilized to build the networks. Furthermore, what those individuals from the networks dont acknowledge is that they are the reason for the bounty of whitetail deer in their general vicinity in light of the fact that were there house is those creatures utilized o live. Another examination led by S. Webb and K. Well in 2009 depended on the endurance and loyalty of the whitetail deer. They inspected checked deer recovers and sightings over a multi year time frame on an encased populace of whitetail deer in Oklahoma, LISA. The scientists tried the endurance and devotion parameter. They found that the quantity of creatures that are encased by wall have expanded which made issues with the reproducing propensities and individual populaces. The specialists likewise found that male deer had a 58% endurance rate during chasing season contrasted with the 78% of the females during the chasing season. An examination directed by F. Fiendishly and J. Encourage in 2009, scientists utilized a Powders estimator to locate the quantity of whitetail deer in a 200 and fourteen hectare territory in Texas. The specialists likewise utilized a corn supplement to draw in the whitetail deer to their testing region. Anyway in this exploration there will be no corn supplement utilized in directing this examination, the example will be totally normal. B. Mill operator and R. Denying in 201 0 directed research on the whitetail deer on the measure of whitetail deer in a given territory. Clover Traps were utilized which are bedeviled traps with bit corn that the deer eat. These analysts gathered information from whitetail deer from Feb.. 27th 1999 to the nineteenth of March 2005. These deer where truly controlled, blindfolded, and given an intramuscular infusion of Calamine hydrochloride (1 00 MGM/ml) which is a sedative shot, at a measurement of 2. 2 MGM/barrel weight. At that point those deer were fixed with plastic ear labels which told there assessed age. Philosophy The methods that the scientist should follow if needing leading this venture are as per the following. Acquire a lush territory of which there is a populace of whitetail deer that the analyst may lead the analysis on. Note that the specialist must have in any event a 5 section of land border of forest territory around the analysts test sight so the exploration won't influence different populaces. At that point, Obtain a Wildlife Infrared Extreme path camera. This is a water verification open air camera that utilizes a movement finder to take pictures during the day and around evening time. Acquire an alert movement indicator that is appropriate for being outside and being wet. Drive route alerts for vehicles appear to work well indeed. (Note: Have not discovered the caution item name yet and still required for venture) After the materials have been assembled, in specialists lush region locate a reasonable here and there the Natural life Infrared Extreme path camera with the goal that it will have a decent perspective on the region that will be tried. Post it on the appropriate tree and ensure that the camera is taking pictures by moving before the camera and checking whether a red light goes ahead when the analyst passes by. Spot the remote control movement identifier underneath the path camera so the camera can snap the photo of any whitetail deer around there when the alert is going off, and when the movement finder isn't being used (Control Variable No Noise). Next relying upon what free factor (Noise) that is being tried set the distributed time or the movement indicator to run, before leaving again ensure that the two materials are working by strolling before the materials. The camera should squint red and the movement indicator should sound. After, let the materials hang out in the forested areas for the multi week times for testing. At last, after the multi week time for testing is over return to the examination territory and recover the Wildlife Infrared Extreme path cameras memory card. At that point supplant the memory card with another clear memory card by embeddings it into the assigned space. Make a point to forget about the camera there so the analyst would not need to rehash steps and 4. Rehash stages 6, 7, and 8 for the other autonomous factors. Subsequent to accepting the memory chip: First, physically include every deer found in each image so the analyst may record you information in their lab scratch pad. The specialist may likewise need to record dates, multiple times with the goal that they locate the mean, and mode for every day and time. So that there is information on what day out of the time for testing the Whitetail deer moved the most and what the mean and mode was for the hour of day likewise during the multi week preliminary lengths. To all the more likely comprehend the Whitetail deers development designs because of the clamor contamination. Next, plug in the specialists information in Maintain to get the mean, and mode for the development designs because of the clamor contamination in the Whitetail deers condition. Record specialists information in their lab note pad, and afterward rehash stages 1-3 for every autonomous factors preliminary. Information Interpretation The levels and alternatives of my autonomous variable are a control which will be the natural clamor that is as of now in the region that I will test. This implies should be done on this time for testing is set up the movement indicator and the path camera. Another degree of this venture is the low clamor eating which will be a sure timeframe that the commotion will be on as it were. The following variable will be the medium commotion setting which will be a timespan that fall be reach out from the low setting. The last clamor setting will be the high which will be the commotion being produce 24 hours one after another for every day. The units and estimation strategy for my needy variable is that the analyst will be physically experiencing and tallying every deer that are found in the entirety of the photos. At that point they will perceive what commotion setting the image was taken during and compute my information. The scientist will likewise observe cap the mean number of deer there was that came in the testing territory for every day and clamor level. The enlightening insights that will be utilized in this exploration is mean which is because of the need to discover what the mean number of whitetail deer there were in that specific region around then and what the mean number of whitetail deer there were in that specific region around then and what the mean number of deer was that came here in that fourteen day time for testing each day. A NOVA test will be utilized for inferential measurements with the goal that example information can be contrasted with the general populace. This evil permit the analyst to see the quantity of whitetail deer out of that populace that is influenced by each commotion level. The general result (speculation) that is thought to occur in this trial is, if there is a considerable measure of human populace commotion in a given zone, and afterward the quantity of Whitetail deer around there will be lower. This implies when there is an expansion in the measure of commotion in this investigation then the quantity of deer visiting that territory will decrease. Information Collection Table: Trial # I Control of Deer) I Low (# of Deer) I Deer) I High ( # of Deer) I Trial #1 h week after week h week by week h week by week h week by week Trial #2 h week by week h week by week h week after week h week after week Above is the information assortment table that incorporates three times for testing for every autonomous variable. With every time for testing going on for fourteen day terms, that are being tried in a steady progression daily separated. Information Analysis Figure 1 shows that the quantity Of deer in the image whenever tallied physically was 4, the time was at 8:40 in the first part of the day and it was 9-2-11. There were a complete number of 493 pictures like the one underneath that had more and not exactly the one beneath. SAT Data Interpretation

Bars and pies? Yum, pass the ice cream! Charts? Whoa, sounds like a fun new board game. Well, in both cases you are mistaken. The most common graphs featured on the SAT math are bar graphs and pie charts. Having a basic understanding of these two graphs can go a long way on the SAT Math Section. Bar graphs A good way to read these graphs is to first look at the y-axis (the vertical side) and the x-axis (horizontal side). Here you will find information that tells you what the bars about. In this case, the y-axis represents the number of cars produced. The lowest number is 20,000 and each line represents an increment of 20,000. Sometimes, when the numbers are really big, you’ll have the numbers represented in increments of 20, but in the bottom left hand corner it might say something like â€Å"each number is in millions: 20 equals 20,000,000†. Next, notice the x-axis. Here we have three different years. Each year is represented by a bar. To figure out how many cars were sold in that year, match the top of the graph to the numbers in the y-axis. For instance, in 2009 a total of 60,000 cars were produced. Sometimes the bar doesn’t exactly touch the line that corresponds to a number in the x-axis (in this case that line is gray and corresponds to each increment of 20,000). For instance, in 2011 the top of the bar is between 80,000 and 100,000. Therefore, 90,000 is a pretty good guess for the number of cars produced in 2011. Don’t worry the SAT is not ridiculous and evil. It won’t say that 2011 is 89,996. The answer spread for how many cars were produced in 2011 would look something more like this: (A) 50,000 (B) 75,000 (C) 85,000 (D) 90,000 (E) 105,000 Pie charts Usually when we cut up pies, we want to make sure each piece is more or less even. In math, pie charts aren’t always even since they are trying to describe the breakdown of different things. If we look at the pie chart, we can see that the entire pie represents Johanna’s expenses for Jan. to Mar. You’ll notice that Johanna’s expenses aren’t the same. For instance, she really likes going to the movies but apparently isn’t too much into eating (guess she’s not a fan of pie!). To represent this we break up the pie into different percents that each stand for something. In this case we have music, food, movies, and other. But a percent has to be a percent of something. In this case, that something is $400. So, if the question asked us how much money Johanna spent on food, the answer is 20% of 400, which is $80. Usually, the SAT will give you something a little more complicated: 5. How much more money did Johanna spend on movies than on music? To answer this question, we can either find 40% of 400 and 25% of 400 and then subtract those two sums. Or we can see that 40% is 15% more than 25%. 15% of 400 is 60, the answer to the question number 5. Other graphs Sometimes, a question might include a combination of a bar and a pie chart. While this might seem pretty scary at first, as long as you understand how each kind of graph works, then you should be fine integrating information from both of them. There are also other kinds of graphs, such as scatterplots, but those rarely come up, and, when they do, it is only on the hardest-level questions.

In his 1946 Iron Curtain speech, Winston Churchill (2015, n. pag.) stated that [n]either the sure prevention of war, nor the continuous rise of world organisation will be gained without what I have called the fraternal association of the English-speaking peoples. This means a special relationship between the [UK] and the United States. The end of World War II did indeed mark the start of a special relationship between the two nations and it has been characterised by political, diplomatic, economic and military relations as well as shared values and strategic objectives in the intervening years (Wallace Phillips, 2009). Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "How did UK and US relations change after the election of Obama?" essay for you Create order However, there has been significant coverage and analysis of the special relationship since the 2008 election of Barack Obama as US President, with many political commentators, academics and journalists alike speculating as to how relevant such a relationship may now be as a result of changing strategy on the part of both nations. This essay will establish the state of the special relationship between the UK and the United States prior to the election of Barack Obama before exploring the political, economic and social changes that occurred in the wake of his inauguration. This will be done with a view to concluding that 2008 was a watershed for the special relationship as a result of changing US and UK priorities, transitional leadership and the global financial crisis. However, despite the evolution of the special relationship as a result of a shifting global political and economic climate, it is still a key strategic alliance that is relevant to the security of both states and the international community as a whole today. Prior to 2008, the special relationship between the UK and US had the purpose of forming close cooperation between the two in terms of nuclear weapons technology, economic activity, trade and military planning and execution, amongst other areas (Wither, 2006). In the immediate aftermath of World War II, it forged a mutual recovery and support in the rebuilding of states that had been damaged by the war with the added point of America becoming the global leader (Arnold, 2014; Friedman, 2007). Lee (2010) argues that the UK was the weaker partner throughout the second half of the 20th century was a result of the fact that the defence cooperation between the two was dominated by the US, who had larger strategic forces and often demanded UK cooperation in initiatives during the Cold War. Wright (2002) supplements this perspective and notes that this imbalance persisted into the 21st century as a result of the UKs backing of George W. Bushs act ions in the wake of 9/11 in exchange for maintaining British influence internationally. The British support for US foreign and security policy in the aftermath of 9/11, particularly the 2003 invasion of Iraq, suggested that the special relationship remained strong despite the fact that it did not have popular support in Britain and raised significant questions as to whether it was in the best interests of the UK to follow American international strategy (Dumbrell, 2009). However, regardless of the controversy that surrounded the actions of both nations, there can be little doubt that there were strong political, strategic and military links in place prior to the election of Obama in 2008. Following Obamas election in 2008, the special relationship has been called into question as a direct result of the ideological disparities between the new President and his predecessor. Obamas diplomatic objectives and strategic goals departed significantly from the approach taken towards allia nces and security by George W. Bush. For example, Dumbrell (2009) notes that Obama had an ambivalence towards the protectionist strategy that had previously been employed and those applying pressure on the president to continue to pursue it as well as committing to diplomacy with other European states to encourage engagement in Afghanistan. As such, the foundation of the special relationship had become distorted as a direct result of the fact that Obama did not wish to prioritise relations with Britain in order to secure an ally in the international community based on a traditional mutual need. Indeed, both Gordon Brown and Barack Obama sought to address global issues like climate change (Dumbrell, 2013) and the restructuring of international institutions to create an effective and efficient global society (Dumbrell, 2008). These issues were not prioritised on Bushs agenda and the cooperation between the US and UK on them provides evidence of a shift in focus. However, the fact that both pledged to cooperate on matters of international rather than domestic importance does underscore the fact that diplomatic and political relations were still in place despite Obamas determination to redefine US foreign policy. As such, the special relationship did change in the field of diplomacy but remained resolutely in place. In highlighting Obamas tentative departure from the traditional American protectionist stance, Dumbrell (2009) also drew attention to the fact that Obama sought to build military alliances to strengthen his position in Afghanistan and this also impacted upon that particular aspect of the special relationship. For example, Self (2010) states that Obama exerted pressure on the British government into committing more troops to the ongoing war in Afghanistan. This was done via coercive rhetoric in a bid to overcome policy differences that were geared towards protecting the British national interest in a time of economic crisis. As such, there was signif icant conflict in the area of military cooperation because of the circumstances that had changed the priorities of both nations. The military element of the special relationship also evolved after the inauguration of Obama in other ways that were directly linked to the shift in American strategic priorities (Wither, 2006). For example, Wither (2006, p. 47) argues that: the longstanding defence partnership is threatened by a number of factors, including interoperability problems, the UKs national and defence spending priorities, the likely impact of a decision to replace Trident and the decline in the importance of the transatlantic strategic partnership in NATO. This identifies several areas where US priorities were distinctly different to those of the UK and therefore marks a major disjunction between the policies of both. This had not existed before as the UK had actively supported the US in its global endeavours, often without question (Dumbrell, 2009). There can be no doub t that the UK was not able to do so to the same extent after 2008. British military capabilities were significantly reduced in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis, which raised significant questions about the UKs ability to contribute to global security as well as compromising any future usefulness in collaborative overseas operations (Wither, 2006). This was also paired with a reluctance to aid Obama via bilateral agreements to take action overseas, with a prime example being parliaments rejection of Prime Minister David Camerons proposal to ally with Obama and commit to air strikes in Syria in 2013 and the resultant strained relationship between the two leaders (Rothkopf, 2014). As a consequence, the special relationship had fundamentally changed in numerous ways based upon the reluctance of the UK to tow the American line and the frustration that manifested in the military relationship between the two, at least on a governmental level if not on the ground where cooperati on did occur. Although cooperation may not have been as forthcoming in a military context as it had been prior to 2008, there are areas of policy and the special relationship in which new forms of cooperation flourished. For example, according to Wallace and Phillips (2009, p, 263), the US-UK special relationship today has a political and ideological superstructure and an embedded military and intelligence substructure. This suggests that there is active cooperation between the two in the intelligence sphere and that is reinforced by the creation of a National Security Strategy Board, which was designed to provide a clear line of communication between officials in the UK and the US to discuss security and strategy as and when necessary (Watt, 2011). In addition, there are ongoing intelligence operations that require cooperation between the two, most notably the running of CIA networks within British communities in conjunction with MI5 in order to prevent terrorist attacks (Svends on, 2010). In effect, stronger links have developed in this particular area of the relationship and illuminate how it has changed based upon need. The economic aspect of the special relationship also demands scrutiny. Despite the global economic crisis that damaged both the US and UK economies significantly there is extensive economic activity that ties them together, including trade and investment that renders each the largest investor in the other (Foreign Affairs Committee, 2010). This irrevocably bound the nations together and provided a point of cooperation that was seemingly unaffected by global goals as it benefitted both nations. Indeed, Stacey et al (2015, n. pag.) note that Obama perceived the US and UK economies as the two that were standing out at a time when a lot of other countries are having problems at the beginning of 2015, thus ostensibly reaffirming the special relationship publically. The implication here is that the strength of both economies reinforced the r elationship as a result of the ongoing benefits that both nations were able to reap from the situation. It should be noted that there were points of disagreement, such as the fact that Obama sought to insert clauses into World Trade Organisation UK stimulus packages that were designed to protect American industry and jobs. However, these did not actively impact upon the economic support or cooperation that one provided the other. In effect, this particular area of the special relationship changed very little despite the global economic climate and the uncertainty it introduced impacting upon other areas. However, despite the changes to the special relationship illustrated above, there are certain elements of it that have altered little since 2008. For example, despite the fact that Obama has favoured a partnership with the collective of European states rather than one nation, the UK is still the weaker partner in the relationship: relief that [Obamas] first phone call to a Europe an leader was to Gordon Brown, indicates how dependent Britains claim to global status is on Washingtons approval (Wallace Phillips, 2009, p. 283). Although the UK is no longer a bridge to Europe as a result of Obamas desire to establish relationships with the European Union and its individual states (Cameron, 2007), it still maintains the closest relationship of all European states to the US and continues to be its closest ally. This is important in determining how far the special relationship had changed and denotes the presence of common ground that has endured from the end of World War II and is still in place. In conclusion, the analysis in this essay points to the special relationship between the UK and United States undergoing a fundamental change in the wake of the election of President Barack Obama in 2008. Although the channels of communication remained open and were consolidated as a result of cooperation in the field of intelligence and via the new National Security Strategy Board, the strategic goals of both nations were undoubtedly impacted by economic crisis, involvement on a changing international stage and the need to develop enhanced relations with other European nations. There is also evidence of friction between the two nations and this manifests in an unwillingness to support the other unless initiatives and policies were also in the national interest. These points outline how the special relationship changed on an ideological and a practical level. However, the economic element of the special relationship remained intact, in spite of the attempts by the US government to insert clauses into stimulus agreements to aid the American economy, and this underlined the remaining importance of each power to the other. As such, the analysis reinforces the idea that 2008 was a watershed for the US-UK special relationship as a result of the impact that changing priorities, transitional leadership and the global financial crisis had on both nation s. There has certainly been a need for the evolution of the special relationship as a result of a shifting global political and economic climate but the relations between the US and UK still facilitate the maintenance of a key strategic alliance that is relevant to the security of both states and responds to the demand for global leadership by the international community today.
